The Man of Mystery

Posted 28 November 2019 by Blog Author

A self confessed introvert, Kofi Owusu doesn’t feel the pressure to compare himself to others. With a slow and steady attitude, he believes no matter how long the journey, we’ll all find our place eventually.

Tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Kofi, I’m 26 I work at General Pants in Parramatta. I’m really chilled. I’d say I’m an introvert. Being an introvert, you live in your own world. Until I started working at GP, I was really introverted, but there is something about going into work that gets you out of your comfort zone.

Do you feel more confident now?
I think that confidence has always been within me, but I’ve always been that chilled guy that has that mystery about me. I think that forces people to try to get to know me because I’m not super loud, which I think is a good thing. You don’t want to be the loudest in the room.

Do you feel like this view translates to your style?
I like to think style is a copy of a copy. You might see someone wearing a certain item of clothing that you like and then it’s like, ‘I do like that but how do I make that reflect on who I am as a person?’ Your outfit can also give away who you are as a person. I wouldn’t say I have one style - just unique, could be anything. If you can wear your suit and look smart, and you can then pull you 874’s and look like a skater boy, that’s my idea of someone who is a cool guy, rather than just someone who dresses well.

Do you think people feel more confident now to express themselves through their style?
We live in this social driven world where you get to see everyone. You can be out there and get inspired by everything. You can be who you are as a person.

What type of music are you influenced by?
My favourite artist of all time is Kanye West and my favourite artist of this generation is J Cole. You listen to music and it speaks to you, it plays a part in your life and those two artists speak to me in a way where I feel like it keeps me level headed. Music can play such a huge role in society now where teenagers are inspired by these artists. There is a lot of music out there - positive influence or negative influence - and it’s being able to listen to the right influence.

Any words of advice?
Just worry about you. It’s life. Everyone has a pace, everyone has a journey. The fact that someone might be your age and have their sh*t together, doesn’t mean they might have their sh*t a year later. Just do you and don’t be stressed about life. Just enjoy it. It might be tomorrow or it might be 10 years, but you’re going to get there. If you don’t enjoy it, you can change. You’re going to get there eventually, and that’s the whole point of life.
