It’s hard to ignore the significant impacts of clothing and fashion on the environment. While the statistics can be heavy handed, it’s more important than ever that we enter a new future of fashion and turn to sustainable methods, so we can all buy and wear consciously.

Enter Levi’s and the introduction of Cottonised Hemp. A conscious approach to denim, inspired by classic fits without scrimping on the feel, wear and durability of the jean.

If you’re unsure where to start your considered wardrobe, we suggest you read on - you’re in the right place.

LET’S TALK MAKE

It’s these sustainable methods of production that continue to innovate the way we wear. We can’t help but be impressed by these practices (who knew hemp could make denim?).

Now, let’s get into the details of Cottonised Hemp. In the cultivation process, hemp requires less water and fewer pesticides compared to its cotton counterpart. It grows quicker, is rain-fed and leaves behind healthier soils (from reduced pesticide use).

So how does it measure in terms of feel? The hemp is treated or ‘Cottonised’ to give it the same benefits of your OG cotton-based jeans, leaving it almost indistinguishable from the denim you have come to know and love.

SO WHICH FIT?

A 160 year deep history of creating quality denimLevi’s has continued to create the fits we always turn to. So, you can lean on them to ensure you’re wearing quality as well as a timeless design.

You’ll be glad to know Cottonised Hemp is used in their 551z - a relaxed, classic straight leg available in Dram Stone Blue, Turner Blue and Shad Black. It features all the iconic signature details from the leather patch and red tab while integrating an innovative fabric.

Otherwise, if you opt for the more oversized and baggy styles, the Stay Baggy Jean features Cottonised Hemp too.

The conversations surrounding sustainability are coming to the table more often than not. When giving your wardrobe a considered lift, it’s hard to bypass a classic pair of Levi’s with their approach to design, production and durability in mind. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that they naturally pair well with everything you currently own.
